Hello
all, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and your New Year
celebrations were all you wanted them to be. But now it's all over,
the Christmas tree has been taken down and the decorations have been
put back in their boxes for another year, along with the tinsel and
sparkle.
I don't know about you but I miss the twinkling lights in the tree.
I do however, have a couple of sets of fairy lights that twinkle around the house all year round.

Are
you rearing to get back to doing what you do best or have you
misplaced your motivation? It can sometimes be difficult to get
back into the swing of things after having a break from the usual
routine especially if you've been affected by the horrid virus that's
been around lately. I was lucky that I escaped the bugs but a few
family members were not so lucky. (although they are all fine now).
I
must admit that I could quite easily have taken a couple more days of laziness but I have a couple of commissions to complete and I've also
got an Art Exhibition to prepare for. The exhibition is not until the
summer but I know from past experience that it's not a good idea to
leave these things till the eleventh hour.
In between painting I've started sewing a few sock animals (not yet finished)

I think I have been blessed this year as I am ready to go. Last year was a hard one with motivation but I have a good feeling about 2013.
ReplyDeleteLike you I hate putting the decorations away. Always puts me on a bit of a downer. Thankfully though I have just thrown myself into creating with the hope that the end of the year will come up trumps :)
Really looking forwards to seeing those sock guys! Make sure you post plenty of piccys!
I must say, by the time the decorations are coming down i'm ready for a fresh start and getting my teeth stuck into something new, although it does take a while to really get back into the swing of things...
ReplyDeleteWell done for making an early start on your Summer deadline - its so much nicer working without that kind of pressure looming isn't it!
I look forward to seeing your sock animals, i just know they're going to be super cute :) x
Those socks are too lovely and snuggly to cut up... but I guess the monkey's will have a cuddle factor +++
ReplyDeleteYou sound so very organised, long may it continue. On the other hand I am still not really back into the stride but it will come I am sure. Looking forward to seeing your sock animals finished :)
ReplyDeleteWell done with being organised - that is top of my list this year. Looking forward to. Seeing the sock monkeys. Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to say I'm eager to get crafting again. I love getting the Christmas decs out and remembering happy times but by New Year I'm ready to pack them away again. I think that's the minimalist in me. I can't wait to see your sock monkeys I love those stripes. Have a crafty week.

I hate the way the house looks so bare when you take all the decorations down - it always needs a clean too! In between Christmas and New Year I was ready to get going again but just at the moment I feel like I could do with a holiday; hopefully when everyone's back to normal here I'll be able to get into the swing of things...
ReplyDeleteI have got some fluffy socks like that....altho mine are firmly on my cold feet right now ;)
ReplyDeleteAm really looking forward to seeing yours turned into monkeys!!
Happy New Year!

Can't wait to see the sock animals! I love sock animals. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry you all caught that virus, I wonder if it's the same one that has been all over the US? My grandson came to visit and brought a little something with him (his parents got it too). Luckily I only sniffled for a day or two, my teacher-immune system must still be in place, thank you! But my husband was not so lucky. And everyone I know on FaceBook has had it. Yikes what a terrible plague, it's like the cold's version of the flu. Glad it skipped you.
Anyway, back to *normal* now. And I'm glad you leave some twinkly lights up. I was at a neighbors and she had some in a big silk plant (her Hanukkah Bush!) and I told her she should leave them all year as they had such a nice ambient light! I think I might do the same, thank you for reminding me. Now, to find twinkly lights this time of year... hmmmmm :)
You must show your sock family when they are finished. Sounds like they might be for Valentines? Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteI recognise that lack of motivation feeling after a break, but luckily this time I'm keen to get back in the swing of things. The fluffy socks look perfect for animals!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a few projects on the go there! I too have some lights on my cheese plant which I sometimes switch on to cheer my conservatory up on a dark night!
ReplyDeleteHugs
