The Queens Birthday

It is a royal tradition that Her Majesty celebrates the occasion twice every year – in April and June.
But although her actual birthday is April 21st her "official" birthday is not until the 2nd Saturday in June, this year it is on June 17 when the official Trooping the Colour celebration takes place.

Happy Birthday Ma'am

Queen Elizabeth 2nd

The tradition dates back to 1748 when George II with the idea to have a public celebration of the monarch's birthday and a parade.
Edward VII then made carried on with the annual parade when he took to the throne.
However, because his birthday was in November, it was decided the public birthday festivities should be in June when the weather is warmer.
