Strawberry Cupcake Kitchen Plaque

Mmmmm a Yummy Strawberry Cupcake without the calories, if only that was possible with real cupcakes!
I love the colour combination of this plaque, the peppermint green is so pretty.

A Kitchen Plaque
This has been handpainted onto wood and finished off with a coat of varnish and a smidgen of sparkle....

Yummy Strawberry Cupcake

Like all my plaques the cupcakes can be made to your own specifications, you choose the wording, the colour and any fruit topper you want.

A cupcake for the Cake House

There are so many combinations for a cupcake, I quite like the idea of a creamy cake with a slice of  mandarin orange on top. What would be your choice of cupcake?

Have a great week and don't eat too many cakes....

The importance of proof reading and double checking...oh and a Purple Cupcake Plaque

Ok we all make mistakes at times...
I received an order via my facebook page for one of my cupcake plaques, we sent messages back and forth, we sorted out the colour scheme, the wording (without an apostrophe in the name), I wrote it on my 'To-Do' list and set to work,

My To-Do List

I sketched it out, prepared the wood, painted, varnished, glitterfied, attached the hanging cord and bow and was pleased with what I'd done. I took photo's, the colours were scrummy, the cupcake looked yummy, I wrapped it carefully and popped it in the post.

It arrived safely at it's destination and I received a lovely message from my customer...

'I just received the Plaque and it's Lovely. The only thing is, it says Kellzies Kitchen instead of Millzies Kitchen. Other than the name I love it'!!

Oooops, wrong name!!

Oh poop and a big ooops, nothing for it but do it again, I really have no idea what happened, I can only think that the lack of chocolate in my diet is playing havoc with my concentration. So the moral of the story is, double check and triple check as you go along, or EAT MORE CHOCOLATE!!

The correct Cupcake Plaque

Mmmm Yummy Cupcake

The correct plaque has now arrived to my lovely customer Millzies Cakes  over on face book, she has a lovely page filled with delicious looking cakes. The 'Kellzie' Plaque has been returned and I will use it as a sample to display on my table at any craft fairs... but of course, if anyone knows a Kellzie??

Handmade Monday 29

This week I've been busy doing my wood preparation. I tend to saw, drill and sand the wood in large batches ready for my plaques, bunting and other bits and bobs. If anyone requests an item of a different size than I usually do then I will do that as I need it.

A few days ago I had such a request from a repeat customer, she wanted a Plaque larger than I normally do, to hang in the kitchen of her new house. My Plaques are normally 31/2" x 7" but this one is 5" x 10" and I've used a chunkier wood. I'm pleased at how well it turned out.

A Kitchen Plaque

This is one of the nice things about individual handmade items, as I'm sure you will all agree, they can be done to suit the customers wishes.

I also had a commission for a Plaque for 'Grandpa's Shed'. The customer wants the Plaque to hang outdoors and asked if it could have a bee painted on it. I emailed across a selection of designs and the customer chose this cute 'ickle Bee and Daisy. The Plaque is finished with an exterior varnish and florists wire instead of ribbon.

A Plaque for Outdoors

Before I go I'd like to say a big Thank You to three lovely bloggers, firstly I'd like to thank

Linda does a great job of showcasing wonderful selections of  items from the Folksy shops.

My next thank you is to Anita at Bath Bomb Creations

She sent me a gift bag of her Lavender & Ylang Bath Bombs to 'Try & Review' and I must sat it was very favourable.
Anita often offers freebies to her blog subscribers in exchange for a review, it was done as a simple question and answer format. I never would of thought of buying this type of gift before but I have completely changed my mind. All reasonably priced too so...........
.........Thank you Anita.

Lavender & Ylang Bath Bomb Cubes

Lastly but certainly not least I would like to thank Wendy who does a brilliant job of hosting Handmade Monday so why not pop over and check out what all the other talented bloggers have been up to this week. If you don't know what Handmade Monday is then follow the link and all will all be explained.

D is for Dinosaur and Dragon

I have a couple of plaques to show you this week and by pure coincidence they both fit into my alphabet theme and the letter for this post is D

A variation of this Plaque was first seen on my Facebook page, click  HERE to have a look. The customer wanted a Dino but with a 'crest' down its back, I love the colours she chose.

Blue & Lilac Dino

My customer was very pleased with this next Name Plaque

A Dragon for Simon

While on the theme of Dragons I thought you would like to see some photo's of  my recent visit to Nottingham, not strictly a Dungeon but these caves could hide a family of Dinosaurs or Dragons.

These photographs are taken in Ye Old Trip to Jerusalem reputedly England's oldest inn. The first picture is in one of the upstairs rooms and picture 2 and 3 are in the cellar. The pub is built into the caves and is well worth a visit.

This next picture is of some of the caves surrounding 'Ye Old Trip' and the Castle.

The rear of the Inn

This is a fantastic pub called The Pit & Pendulum which is part of the Eerie Pub Co

Eerie Pub Co in Nottingham

I can imagine a family of Dragons living in the underground cellars, can you?

What collective noun would you use for a  group of Dragons? would it be a 'wing' a 'flight' or even a Dragoon of Dragons?

C is for Cupcakes

We all like Cupcakes don't we?

This week I've been asked to paint a couple of old favourites.

This Plaque was bought to hang in a caravan.

A Chocolate Cupcake Plaque just for fun.

These kitchen Plaques tend to do well at Craft Fairs and I get orders to personalise them either to match a room or a favourite flavour Cupcake,

Strawberry                 Chocolate Chip with Swizzle Stick                         Cherry

My all time favourite flavour is chocolate but I'm afraid I'm bit fickle when it comes to all things 'cake' and change my favourite along with my mood, this week is the turn of  Lemon Drizzle.
(mmmm I must think of my diet)

Do you have a  favourite flavour Cupcake?

I'm off to have a look at all the other great blogs that take part in  Handmade Monday. I hope you'll join me. If you don't know what this blog hop is then follow the link and all will be explained.
