12 Days of Folksy Day 3 - Comfort & Joy

When we think of Comfort and Joy at Christmas time we usually think of the hymn God Rest you Merry Gentlemen, but what does Comfort and Joy mean to you? Language across time changes and evolves and Comfort and Joy will mean something different to everyone.
Comfort can be contentment, relaxation, warmth and cosiness, Joy can be happiness, merriment, delight and wonderment.

My Comfort is spending Christmas at home. My Joy is being with my family.

I asked people close to me what it meant to them, these are just a few of the replies.
The comfortable feeling of having family gathered together.
The joy of having a break from work.
The ability to snuggle up and watch feel good festive films.
The closeness we feel by receiving cards and being remembered.

Whatever your take on the meaning of Comfort & Joy I hope you can all
Chill Out and have Fun

12 Days of Folksy | Day 2 - Decorate

Do you decorate for Christmas? I love seeing the twinkle of lights on a Christmas tree or festooned across the town and city streets.

These days I am a bit of a minimalist decorator but I do have sparkling lights all around, I also have a few special decorations that are brought out every year, my all time favorites are this lovely Santa riding a white horse

and this selection of Hanging Decorations that I painted myself.

I'm looking forward to seeing all the other Folksy Folks Decorations.

Tomorrow is Comfort & Joy.

12 Days of Folksy Day 1 - 'Tis the Season

Today is the first day of the Folksy Christmas Challenge for 2019, you see the prompts for each day on the poster.  A post will be posted each day using the prompts as inspiration.
It's a great way of supporting Folksy.com as a seller as well as getting the word out to potential buyers about the wonderful array of handmade crafts here in the UK.

The first prompt is

You will most likely hear or read the phrase "'tis the season!" as Christmas approaches. The phrase ’tis the season is often used before many activities around Christmas time, such as ’tis the season for wrapping presents, ’tis the season for mistletoe, ’tis the season for chestnuts roasting on an open fire and ’tis the season for Santa Claus and the Grinch.

Most people believe that the source for this phrase is from the lyrics to 'Deck the Halls' Christmas carol. The carol contains the words, "'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la."
Enjoy the music from this You Tube Video.....

Deck the Halls

'Deck the Halls' is taken from the old Welsh tune Nos Galan, a New Year’s carol.  Most people sing Deck the Halls in the plural but it was first written as Deck the Hall in the singular. A great song to get you in the mood for this wonderful time of the year.

Winter Moon

Brrrr it's getting colder out there, there have been a few clear nights and frosty mornings lately, great for looking at the moon through the window but not so good for frozen fingers while trying to get a decent photograph, so I've cheated and chosen an old pic of mine of the moon through the trees...

Looking through Folksy.com I've found some lovely Winter Moon items, here are just a few.

Autumn Leaves

Just a few Autumn Leaves, I do love these colours, Autumn is well and truly here.

These were taken on my way to the shops, I love being able to take a less direct route.

It was a damp and overcast day, the rain had not long ceased and everywhere was still damp,

but it didn't take away the beauty of my surroundings.

Sometimes you just need to stop what you're doing and look at the view.

Whatever you are doing and wherever you are don't forget to pause, look around you and take some time out just for yourself.
