12 Days of Folksy Day 1 - 'Tis the Season

Today is the first day of the Folksy Christmas Challenge for 2019, you see the prompts for each day on the poster.  A post will be posted each day using the prompts as inspiration.
It's a great way of supporting Folksy.com as a seller as well as getting the word out to potential buyers about the wonderful array of handmade crafts here in the UK.

The first prompt is

You will most likely hear or read the phrase "'tis the season!" as Christmas approaches. The phrase ’tis the season is often used before many activities around Christmas time, such as ’tis the season for wrapping presents, ’tis the season for mistletoe, ’tis the season for chestnuts roasting on an open fire and ’tis the season for Santa Claus and the Grinch.

Most people believe that the source for this phrase is from the lyrics to 'Deck the Halls' Christmas carol. The carol contains the words, "'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la."

Deck the Halls

'Deck the Halls' is taken from the old Welsh tune Nos Galan, a New Year’s carol.  Most people sing Deck the Halls in the plural but it was first written as Deck the Hall in the singular. A great song to get you in the mood for this wonderful time of the year.
