Birds, Cards & WiP Hearts for Handmade Monday

I had a quick trip to the coast one day this week, it just happened to be the coldest and windiest day of the week, after a hot cup of tea at a little cafe I managed to take a few photo's of birds along the waters edge.

Birds on the Rocks

Sanderlings on the Shoreline

I had a look at good old Google when I got home and I think they may be Sanderlings, they are so cute standing on one leg.

A couple more cute birds can be found on the cards I have in my HandcraftedbyPicto Folksy Shop

Happy Bird Day Card

These have been hand painted using acrylic paint and attached to a white card.

Happy Bird Day for a Happy Birthday ♫♪♪

The inside of the card has a nice sheet of lilac paper for you to write your own message.

I'm working on some commissions at the moment so here's a couple of work in progress shots,

WIP Hearts

Do you like my 'one use only, don't bother cleaning, just throw away palette tray'?

Personalised Hearts

I have to be a bit secretive until they are all completed but I can tell you that they each have a name and favorite items painted on.

That's all from me at the moment

New Outdoor Plaques for Garden Sheds

I've missed a couple of weeks of blogging, The Hubster and I decided to have a few days away for a bit of R&R, it was great to have a bit of time out and a thoroughly lazy time. Other than my little break I've been busy with commissions.

Outdoor Plaque

The Spade and Fork image tends to be one of my most popular Shed Plaque designs but I can work with my customer to personalise any design.

Personalised Garden Shed Plaque

For Val's Garden Shed I was asked to include a butterfly, a cat and a hedgehog.

Outdoor Plaque

Both these plaques are now with there new owners and I had lovely emails back, it's always great to know that an item got to it's destination safely and in good time but even more pleasing to get great feedback.

Right, I'm off to play work, I've got some hearts to prepare for my next commission.

A Plaque for a Playroom, Fairies Welcome

I have another commissioned plaque to show you this week, this time it is for a playroom for a couple of little girls. I was contacted via my Handcrafted by Picto Facebook Page and after an exchange of ideas and a sketch sent for approval this is what I painted....

Playroom Plaque

I love the colours, the brief was lilac, pink and yellow in pastel shades.

A Playroom Fairy

I have put a shimmer of sparkle paint around the edges and on all the details.

Fairies Welcome

This Fairy Garden is filled with Butterflies and Dragonflies, Toadstools and Flowers.

Welcome Plaque

I added a couple of snails, ladybirds, a caterpillar and a wiggly worm in the grass.

A Fairy Plaque for a Playroom

This plaque is a tad larger than my usual size, about an inch all round and slightly thicker, I can also do any of my plaques on canvas or paper on request. This picture gives you an idea of the difference in size.

Plaque Sizes

Just before I go I thought I'd show you a returning visitor to my feeders...

A Great Spotted Woodpecker at the feeder

I think I may paint one of these, don't you think the markings are lovely?

3 Puppies on a Plaque

For this weeks Handmade Monday post I'd like to show you a plaque I made to hang doggy leads on...

My customer sent me photographs of her 3 dogs and done this quick sketch for approval before I started painting.

These cute little puppies have been painted using acrylic paints onto wood.....

The hooks are for dog leads but could easily be used for keys. I've added a ribbon to display it for the photographs but I supply a couple of brass screws and rawl plugs so it can be screwed into the wall. This makes it more secure for hanging the leads.

The painting has been continued around the edges, can you see the toadstools?....

I do like to add daisies, butterflies and ladybirds and as all 3 doggies are female and love romping in the garden it seems quite appropriate.

Pink Unicorns on Name Plaques

For this week's Handmade Monday I'd like to show you Pink Unicorns

Stories and legends have been told of the Unicorn since time began, this wonderful creature has always been woven into tales of myth, magic and folklore.

The Unicorn is a popular request for personalised plaques, here are the latest two that I have painted....

All pink for Sophie

Pink & Brown for Libby

They have both been finished off with a coat of sparkle, it's a pity it doesn't show up well in the photographs.
These can be done in any colour or wording so if you want something similar just let me know.

Wishing you all a magical week

A Personalised Canvas for a Boy

I decided to change my banner, do you often change your banner?
I thought I'd have a purple and lilac theme for a while. I cropped a photo and just used the bottom part of it, the full photo is this....

Purple Field

It's a lovely field and church local to where I live. When I passed it last week I just had to pull over and take this photo. Edited to add... I have found that the name of this flower is the Phacelia Tanacetifolia, commonly known as Lacy Phacelia, I have put individual pictures on my next post.

*******************************

A Sneak Peek

Do you remember this little snippet I showed you a while back?

I can now show you the full thing... This Canvas was requested for a Naming Gift via my Wow Thank You Shop

I just couldn't get the colour balance right in these pics, the sky is actually more purple than it looks.

Here are some close ups of the details....

A bat hanging in the tree

Toadstools in the Grass

Snails and a Wiggly Worm

It's time to link up to Lucy Blossom Crafts Link Up

But before I pop over to see what everyone else has been up to I'd like to say a huge thank you for all the comments and all the yummy cupcake combinations, you know I've got to try them all don't you?

The Blue House

The Blue Roofed House complete with a white owl perched on a post in the garden.

The washday house also has a little hedgehog nestling

among the flowers in the garden, can you see him?

Hand Painted Wooden Houses

The Orange Gardner's House has vases of flowers in the windows

and a spade and fork in the garden.

The reader sitting at the window is enjoying a mug of tea

as well as her books.

A Group of Wooden Houses

The Blue House has the family name above the door

and a lamp to light up the garden.

These little houses were a joy to paint, they have all been personalised especially for the customers needs and are painted on all sides.

Handpainted Wooden Personalised Houses

Gosh, it seems an age since my last post, the reason for such a gap?
Christmas Visits, New Year Celebrations and Blog Laziness!! I must admit that over the Christmas break I hardly looked at the blogs that I follow, that's so bad of me, but I did manage to post comments on one or two!!!

I may have been blog lazy but I haven't been craft lazy or art lazy. The run up to Christmas was a busy time and most of what I made were bought as gifts, many were personalised and I didn't want to put them on show until they had been received. So now I'm going to try and get back into the swing of things blog wise.

The Wooden Houses I made were popular this year and I painted a few family groups, I worked with the customer choosing colours and interests for the details.

A Trio of Wooden Houses

These are painted on all sides with details personal to each of the recipients.
